SFI was founded on July 1, 1965, during the golden age of the Steel Industry. The sheet metal fabricator originally opened with just 3 employees in a 3,000 square foot building in Warren, Ohio.
Starr Manufacturing, Inc. (SMI) began its mission of bringing together outsourcing and project needs with their technical, manufacturing and value-added expertise. SMI produces custom industrial equipment and machinery for a diverse range of industries, with core competence in medium to heavy industrial applications in markets related to:
- Mining
- Material handling
- Waste management including environmental / water pollution
- Energy
- Machine / Equipment manufacturers (OEM equipment)
Their philosophy is to seek partnerships with engineering and manufacturing firms requiring fabrication, machining and engineering capabilities, through to finished painted and assembled products. They strive to achieve long-term strategic partnerships in which they become the sole supplier of entire product lines for customers who do not have their own in-house fabricating and protective coating capabilities.
